365 days living in DC today and the way in which the city celebrates this milestone is with a 123° heat index. However, it seems extremely petty and inopportune to complain about these extra sweat droplets, after what happened in Oslo, Norway today. I cannot explain this and certainly do not understand. The things that happen these days are devastating.

Earlier this month two men were murdered less than 3 miles from my office, in Columbia Heights. I realize that this is no way to "celebrate" our 1 year in this city, but it seems important to take a moment to really think about the fragility of life.

If this year has taught me anything, it's that you never know what tomorrow will bring. All I can hope for is that it is something good.
