THE Wedding

This wedding was absolutely amazing, it was perfectly executed and I would not have changed anything. Shuttles were arranged to and from the wedding venue for all guests. So, at 6:45pm a shuttle picked us up from our hotel lobby and took us to the club house at Tres Vidas. When we arrived, we were immediately offered fresh fruit waters. The place was magnificent looking, right on the ocean. Even the bathrooms were beautiful, you could hold a wedding in there! It was a Jewish ceremony and the Rabbi only spoke English, so Matt lucked out :) I loved that it was a religious ceremony, but quite modern and not drawn out at all, it was extremely enjoyable. Rodrigo's sister even sang a Celine Dion song as a gift to the couple half way though and she has an amazing voice. Right before the ceremony ended, we all attempted to light these small little hot air balloons that we were given upon arrival. We wrote a wish for the couple inside and then it was supposed to fly away, but due to severe wind, it actually became more of a fire hazard. Nonetheless, a very special idea and unique touch.

After that, we walked over to the cocktail hour, where they had every drink imaginable (including tamarind margaritas--theme of the blog it seems) and ceviche, tuna, fresh avocado and tostadas. Everything was so fresh. Little bar tables and stools were set up around this beautiful pool filled with floating, lit up spheres. After a bit, it was dinner time. There must have been around 60 tables, we were at table 54 with a bunch of my friends from middle school. Of course, amazing flower centerpieces adorned each table. Dinner was also light and delicious: white, cold, gnocchi vegetable soup, lime-tequila sorbet, lime sea bass with Parmesan risotto and choice of mango/maracuya sorbet, key lime pie or chocolate "bomb" with vanilla ice cream. After dinner, the couple danced and incredible 4th of July-like fireworks went off in the background.

The band was fabulous, apparently they are quite famous, but I can't remember their name now, they came from Mexico City. They must have brought 30+ costumes with them, it was like mardi gras. They also gave out funny props every couple songs: hats, sunglasses, wigs. At around 11pm, a candy bar was opened which had chips, gummies, spicy candy, ring-pops, etc. Then, at around 2am, vegetable pizza was served. Then, at around 4am breakfast was served. Yes, you heard correctly, chilaquiles, beans, corn and tortilla chips. The whole shabang. If that was not enough, there was also a photo booth and some pictures were uploaded here.

The wedding ended around 6:00am, needless to say, I fell asleep in the shuttle, the whole ride home. It was an unforgettable 11 hour wedding. It was a honor to be a part of this wedding and I wish Ro and Fortu the very best!
