This past weekend we were all tourists, along with Matt's family. They arrived on Thursday evening and we finally tried  the new restaurant below are building, Rustico. When it first opened we tried going, but the wait was 2 hrs!! It was delicious, I shared a roasted mushroom pizza (mushroom cream, goat cheese and spinach) with Josh. On Friday evening, we ate at Ceiba, which might sound familiar from when we went with my grandparents, Manny and Cristina in January. This place did not let us down, it was even more fantastic than before, especially the tuna tartar taquitos!

On Saturday we headed to Mount Vernon for a 10am tour. Amazing that you only drive about 30 mins and you find the mansion where George and MarthaWashington lived in 1759 and stunning views of the Potomac River.

Afterwards, we headed to old town Alexandria for lunch and my first pair of wedges (shoes, not potatoes) came home with me. Once we refueled, it was almost time for our National Archive tour, where we perused the US Constitution, The Bill of Rights, The Magna Carta, The Declaration of Independence, while in the midst of SMURFS students in blue t-shirts texting, flirting, yelling touring. Was I that obnoxious while on my Presidential Classroom trip?

On Sunday, I had gotten tickets to the Arts and Crafts Festival in Annapolis, which was a little disappointing, but the town itself was extremely charming and right on the water. 'Bill the Goat' is the Naval Academy's mascot, cute or not so much?

Annapolis reminded me a little bit of a beach town, quaint little shops, art galleries, souvenirs that give you "one free pound of fudge with any purchase" and yummy crab cakes! Then, taking advantage of the fact that we were near the outlets, we ventured to visit Tommy Bahama, who was was graciously offering 50% off his entire store. Got my dad a shirt that will make him want to ALOHA.

Happy to announce that I am officially the proud owner of my first car. Title came in the mail today! Oooh also excited because I found out today that there are non-stop (not too expensive) flights to Reykjavik, Iceland from DC, perhaps that will be our next travel destination. Vikings, a blue lagoon, a Penis Museum, why not visit?

Matt's friend Greg and his dad, will be coming into town to go to the US Open starting on Thursday. I wish the "Eat as much chocolate and pasta as you want and still look like Salma Hayek luncheon" was in town this weekend along with all my girlfriends...
